- conservation advice as a specific element of our garden advice service
- conservation advice as part of an overall Garden Advice Visit
- inclusion of specific conservation areas as part of a garden design, for example, bug hotels; natural ponds; log piles for stag beetles
Plews can design and build these to suit your exact needs. That might be a pond, beehives in a garden orchard or a wildlife area. So if you have a difficult corner we can make a bug hotel to fit. We can also advise on which type of beehive to purchase, for example.
We encourage wildlife and habitat conservation within our garden designs wherever possible, with the proviso that this will still meet your needs for a beautiful practical garden. We may design pollinator friendly planting schemes, where there are flowers in bloom all year round – a benefit to humans as well as bees and butterflies. Where there are scented flowers and shrubs in winter, spring, summer and autumn, your garden can provide you with cut flowers for the house and nectar to feed pollinating insects.
Hedgehogs are one of Britain’s favourite small mammals, but their habitats are in decline. With a careful tweak your garden can be designed to encourage Mrs Tiggywinkle to find a home, or at the least, a safe way through the suburban garden corridor.
So whether you need something as simple as suggestions for a water butt to fit a difficult corner or a full blown wildlife garden that suits family life, Plews can help.
We also have blogs on various conservation issues in the garden, to give you some ideas and tips, for example:
