Plews Potting Shed Award Winning Gardening Blog

Plews Potting Shed is where you’ll find our weekly gardening blog.

This award winning gardening blog started back in winter 2011 and has been published weekly ever since.

What can you expect to find?

Well, one thing you’ll find here, is a garden design blog, or garden designer’s blog, with a difference. A plantswoman, conservationist and quirky thinker, Marie pulls together different strands of garden related ideas and non-gardening ideas to delight you even if you’re an armchair gardener.

If you aspire to getting all the gardening done at the correct time, you’ll find helpful advice here to do that. And support for when things havent gone quite to plan.

You can enjoy garden design inspiration and planting design ideas. Some of the starting points for Marie’s inspired planting schemes may surprise you.

There are reviews of gardens and garden shows we have visited. RHS Chelses Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Flower Show blogs are conveniently available for you to download from Plews website as Flower Show Perspectives eBooks with extended content and extra photos.

There are more botanical and scientifically orientated gardening blogs to help clarify some of those confusing plant facts for you. And you can check out the Plews Gardening Glossary for garden terms too.

We have ‘how to’ guides on a range of topics from sowing seeds indoors to double digging using the correct spade. Some of these have links to videos on Plews YouTube channel.

Then there are the articles on garden history and other gardening related topics.

So whether you’re wondering whether: –

  • to have a greenhouse,
  • how to give your front garden some kerb appeal,
  • start growing your own rhubarb,
  • what a herbaceous perennial is,
  • how you can create wildlife habitats in your garden,
  • or looking for garden design inspiration

there is probably a blog on the topic!

With all this information on offer, it won’t surprise you to learn that Plews offers Gardening Courses and Garden Lessons where your garden is the classroom. So when the blog has whetted your appetite, we can give you even more help to enjoy your garden to the full!

Okay, for those of you who do the math, there are one or two gaps in the weekly run. They’re probably the short-lived very topical articles that haven’t been transferred in one of the moves to an updated website.  Most of these have or will re-appear in new, updated format, with correct and current scientific information. Gardening can be a fast changing world at times.

There are also a dozen or so landscape gardening blogs written by Marie’s son, Nathan Waterfield. He’s a partner at Plews Garden Design and owner at  Plews Garden Landscaping.
