This client contacted us wanting a fresh look for their overgrown garden in Lewisham, in Greater London.
Their brief was:
• Add interesting and colourful planting design to the existing weedy flower border
• Easy maintenance planting
We started by clearing the overgrown and unwanted plants from the borders and began to brighten the garden up with splashes of colour.
This is a good sized London garden, so we were able to design the flower border with a range of herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses to create a bright, tapestry effect.
Heuchera ‘key lime pie’, Heuchera ‘palace purple’ and Ophiopogon (black grass) gave colourful ground cover that contrasted well with the late summer and autumnal flowers of Helenium.
Bedding plants for summer and spring flowering bulbs completed the planting scheme to give a long season of interest.
We also replanted the rock garden with Saxifrages, Sedums and Sempervirens (houseleeks) to give it a fresher and more varied look.
Planting Design Lewisham Client Testimonial:
“For years I felt that my garden was underperforming. The trees and shrubs that had managed to get by without any human assistance needed company: the odd biennial here, a few perennials there. Unfortunately, the only success I seemed to have was limited to weeds, moss and next door’s invasive thorns, and a very good line in bluebells.
Then I discovered Plews Garden Design.”
