Intercropping

Intercropping is a method of cultivation used in vegetable gardens and allotments.

It is the practice of growing faster maturing crops such as lettuce in the space between slower growing crops such as potatoes and sprouts. Generally used when planting your longer standing crops in rows.

Intercropping is also known as interplanting or planting a catch crop. Depending on the crops grown it is possible to harvest the catch crop two or three times during the season.
